Beakus Twisterus was conceived in 2006 by Chester Osborn and Kathie Tidemann, partners in both life and business. Chester, the fourth-generation owner and head winemaker of the multi-award-winning d'Arenberg Winery in McLaren Vale, is renowned for his bold creativity. He designed and built the iconic d'Arenberg Cube, a must-visit destination for wine, art, (including Chester's thought provoking sculptures) and food lovers from around the world. He’s also famous for his vibrant, head-turning shirts that reflect his eccentric style.

Kathie, a fearless marketer, sales powerhouse, and all-around go-getter, was the perfect partner in crime—always ready for the next challenge. Together, they decided to create Beakus Twisterus, a brand dedicated to those who love to stand out, offering bold, original designs in shirts and bow ties that make an impression, whether at a casual night out or a black-tie event.

What's in a name?

As a child, Chester was diagnosed with both dyslexia and a speech impediment. His schoolmates gave him the nickname "Muddled," which later evolved into "Twisted Beak." Always one to embrace the unconventional, Chester played with the name and arrived at "Beakus Twisterus." Latin? Not quite—but it certainly has a ring to it!

The Twisted Beak

The brand's distinctive bird logo, inspired by the vibrant toucan, reflects the bold, kaleidoscopic colors of the designs. The bird’s beak even transforms into a corkscrew—a playful nod to Chester’s golden curls and lifelong passion for wine.

The Journey

With no experience in fashion but plenty of determination, the duo headed to Paris to attend Première Vision, the world’s leading textile trade fair. They returned brimming with ideas and original designs, ready to bring their vision to life.

However, the road wasn’t easy. Years of trial and error, false starts, and global setbacks (thanks, Global Financial Crisis and Covid) delayed the launch. But persistence paid off, and now, Beakus Twisterus proudly presents a collection of high-quality cotton voile shirts, featuring exquisite embroidery and detailed cuffs.
